what does the bible say?
The Holy Spirit played a vital role in the Old Testament: creation, empowering the formation of the universe, and giving life to humans. He worked uniquely in the lives of individuals, teaching, guiding, and empowering them to accomplish God’s plans, from Samson to David. The Spirit also manifested God’s presence, convicting, instructing, and sustaining His people, while contending with evil. God promised that the Holy Spirit would one day be poured out on God’s people. Prophets foretold that the Messiah would be empowered by the Spirit, a prophecy fulfilled in Jesus’ baptism. Today, the same Spirit who worked in the Old Testament continues to live in believers, empowering and guiding them in their daily walk with God.
