Scripture makes it clear that Jesus is fully God. John begins his Gospel by stating that the Word was God and became flesh (John 1:1, 14). Paul wrote that the fullness of deity dwelt in Him physically (Colossians 2:9), and the apostles confirmed His eternal divine identity. Because God’s nature is immortal and unchanging, His divine essence could not die (1 Timothy 6:16).
At the same time, Jesus is fully human. He took on our nature so that He could suffer and die in our place (Hebrews 2:14). The Gospels record that He truly died on the cross and was buried (Matthew 27:50–61; Mark 15:37–47; Luke 23:44–55; John 19:30–42). His death was real, but it was experienced in His humanity, not in the divine essence that cannot perish. Therefore, Scripture can speak of “the Son of God” dying, or even of God purchasing the church "with his own blood" (Acts 20:28). These phrases do not mean that deity itself perished, but that the person who is both God and man truly died in His humanity.
The death and resurrection of Jesus are the heart of the Christian faith—truly the most extraordinary story of hope and victory. Because He died to forgive sins and rose again, we are offered free forgiveness and reconciliation with God. His triumph over death means salvation isn’t just a pardon for past wrongs; it’s the promise of a new, eternal life full of purpose and joy.
This is truly exciting! Death is no longer the final chapter, because Jesus, the risen Christ, holds the keys to life and death (Revelation 1:18). For those who belong to Him, the grave becomes simply a doorway into His presence, where body and soul will one day be united in glory. With this hope, you can face life's losses and your own mortality with confidence—knowing Jesus has already conquered death.
And this incredible gift calls for a response. The Bible says that if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Trusting in Him means resting in His victory and living with the confidence that nothing can separate you from His love. It’s an invitation to experience the fullness of life and eternal hope offered to you today.
