Song of Solomon reminds us that love is not just a feeling to chase; it is a commitment to protect, a person to cherish, and a gift to steward. Our culture often says, sometimes with slogans and words and sometimes by what it affirms, “Follow your heart, do what feels right, and leave when it gets hard,” but God’s design says that the deepest love is found through commitment, faithfulness, selflessness, and sacrifice.

If you are single, don’t believe the lie that waiting on God means missing out—His wisdom protects your heart and prepares you for the kind of love that lasts. If you are dating, don’t build a relationship only on attraction and emotions; pursue someone whose character, faith, and commitment reflect the kind of love God celebrates. If you are married, don’t assume love will stay strong without intentional effort—choose to pursue, appreciate, serve, and delight in your spouse. Stay committed.

Song of Solomon teaches us that God is not against romance, passion, or intimacy; He created these things! And He made them good! But like every good gift, love is most beautiful when enjoyed according to the wisdom of the One who designed it. And above all, don't forsake the Giver for the gift. The love we long for points us to the greater love we were created for: the faithful, never-ending love of Jesus.
