WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

God’s size transcends human understanding and cannot be measured by physical standards. The Bible reveals that God is the Creator of the universe, all-knowing, omnipresent, and eternal, ruling over all things with unmatched wisdom and power. While His greatness is beyond comprehension, God is intimately aware of every detail of our lives, demonstrating His sovereignty and love. Through Jesus, God made Himself visible, offering salvation to all who believe. This mystery of God's infinite size and personal closeness calls us to trust in Him, the One who is big enough to make the universe and big enough to know and hold our hearts.

FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT

The Bible says that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). God is big and powerful enough to create the entire universe with the command of His voice.
God is all-knowing and all-seeing. He is omnipresent. God’s presence fills the earth (Jeremiah 23:24).
God is eternal and everlasting (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 40:28).
In Isaiah 66:1 God declares, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” God is the King of the universe able to rule and reign with righteousness and justice.

God’s rule is active as He is always aware of the activities of creation on the earth: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:29–31).
God’s abilities are without limits (Matthew 19:26).
God’s love is greater than all other love (Ephesians 3:18–19).
God can do more than we can even imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
God is sovereign, accomplishing His will and “for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Even the wisest and strongest human beings are foolish and weak in comparison to God (1 Corinthians 1:25).

The question "How big is God?" may sound like a question a child would ask, but it is a question that philosophers deal with when trying to grasp the existence and nature of God. The fact is, God transcends physical dimension. It is not possible to define Him by human standards of size and measurement. Think about it, this is the God who created the universe, the atom, and everything we see, feel, and experience. Some may say that God is "infinitely big," but that is more of a concept than a physical depiction and "infinity" is something that only God can truly comprehend. God is outside of time and space. “The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth” (Psalm 33:13–14). We cannot fully comprehend the nature of His being. Thus, it is fruitless to try to determine how big God is because God's size cannot be determined or even expressed by human standards.

It is important to know that while God is big enough to rule and reign over this entire world, He is also small enough to care about you and rule and reign in your heart. God came down to us in a physical body in the person of Jesus (John 1:1–4, 14). “He is the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15). Jesus came to save the world from sin and death. Through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, He offers eternal life and forgiveness of sins to anyone who believes in Him (John 3:16–18; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Ephesians 2:1–10). While we can never fully grasp His enormity, we can find awe in the reality that the same God who holds the universe in His hands also desires to dwell in our hearts, transforming us with His love (John 17:20–26; Romans 8). His size is beyond measure, yet His presence is as close as a whispered prayer. God is both the Creator of all things and the Savior who offers grace and eternal life. This mystery invites us to trust in Him, knowing that His greatness and His nearness are both true, and in that truth, we find both wonder and peace.
