A few years ago, some people noticed that there would be a series of blood-red moons in 2014 and 2015. It was a beautiful occurrence. This moon coloring is usually caused by a lunar eclipse, and there were four eclipses in those two years. Some people connected these lunar happenings with references to end-times prophecies in Joel and Revelation.
However, even more interesting was the timing of the eclipses. In both 2014 and 2015, a full lunar eclipse occurred on the first day of Passover and on the first day of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. Additionally, two solar eclipses occurred in 2015. Just seven times has this combination of lunar eclipses happened since the time of Jesus. Two of those seven times are within fairly recent memory—in 1948 when Israel was established again, and in 1967 when the Six-Day War occurred.
Jesus clearly stated in Mark 13:32 that no one except the Father knows the exact time of His return. Speculating on specific dates or events is unwise, as Jesus’s return will come unexpectedly. Instead, we should focus on living faithfully, following Christ's teachings, and being ready for His return whenever it may come.
The theories about the return of Jesus being connected in some way to what we can observe and predict in the "heavens" are just that—theories. The ones regarding 2014 and 2015 were wrong. The idea that Jesus would return during the blood-red moon of 2015 reminds us of how easy it is to get caught up in speculation about specific signs or dates. Jesus Himself made it clear that no one can predict the timing of His return (Mark 13:32), and instead of focusing on when it will happen, we should focus on how we live in anticipation of it. This event serves as a reminder to spend our energy seeking to follow Christ's teachings and commands, living with an urgency to reflect Him daily. As we move forward, it's important to recognize that while signs and wonders can be interesting, our primary responsibility is to remain faithful, ready for Christ’s return whenever it may come.
