what does the bible say?
The apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Colosse between 58 and 62 AD. The purpose was to combat false teachings in the church and to show that believers have everything they need in Christ. Lessons include theological truths and practical applications. The primary lesson from the book of Colossians is that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and Lord of all creation. He is the image of the invisible God and is equal with the Father. He is preeminent and complete (Colossians 1:15–20). Because Christ is God, He is the head of the body of true believers, the church (Colossians 1:18). Christ is the founder, the leader, and the highest authority. Christ reconciled all things to Himself, making peace by the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20).
