what does the bible say?
Childbirth can bring real fear, but the Bible reminds us that God is present with us even in painful and uncertain moments. God knows and cares for us from the womb and repeatedly tells His people not to fear because He is with us (Psalm 139:13–16; Isaiah 41:10). Rather than pretending that fear isn't real, we are called to bring our fears honestly to God and to trust Him with what we cannot control (Psalm 56:3; Psalm 55:22). Jesus likewise teaches us not to be consumed by anxiety but to trust our heavenly Father, who knows what we need (Matthew 6:25–34). When fear takes over, prayer can redirect our hearts toward God's peace, strength, and presence (Philippians 4:6–7; 1 Peter 5:7). Preparing can also redirect our fears and anxiety about childbirth. We can make wise plans, seek medical care, ask for support, and still recognize that God is ultimately in control (Proverbs 16:9; James 1:5). Whatever happens during childbirth, our ultimate hope is not in controlling the outcome but in trusting the God who promises to be with us and never leave us (Deuteronomy 31:8; Romans 8:38–39). He is our strength in all things, including childbirth!
