What is a woman of God? How can I be one?

A Woman of God is totally committed to God. This commitment is of the heart and drives the actions. A woman can act in such a way that she convinces all those around her that she is a Woman of God and still not be one. However, if she is committed to God in her heart, she will act in that way, but she won't be concerned about how others see her actions.

A woman of God submits completely to God, and will find the outlet for the gifts He has endowed her with. As 1 Corinthians 12:7 says, "To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." The Woman of God will seek to find how the Holy Spirit has gifted her and exercise that "manifestation of the Spirit" for the benefit of those around her.

There are numerous characteristics that a Woman of God will have, but since God looks at the heart rather than outward appearances (1 Samuel 16:7), having these characteristics is much less important than being completely and totally committed to God. One of those characteristics is that she will love Christ and obey His commandments (John 14:15). His first commandment is to love each other (John 13:34), so the Woman of God will actively love other Christians. She will exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) in all her life. There are many other outward characteristics that mark a Woman of God, but none of them define a Woman of God. The inward attitude of submission to God is the only thing that defines a Woman of God.

This, then, leads to the question of, "How can I become a Woman of God?" The answer is simple: commit yourself completely to God. However simple the answer may be, though, doing it is very difficult. In fact, without letting the Holy Spirit change your heart to enable you to commit yourself to God, your fallen human nature will not allow you to do it. When a woman yields to God and allows Him to change her into what He wants, that woman will become a Woman of God.
